	The California Pops Orchestra is the West Coast's only exclusively Pops orchestra. You can count on the California Pops Orchestras' 60 plus musicians, featured singers and artist performing a lively show with selections from the full realm of the popular music repertoire. The music of stage, Broadway, musicals, television, the movies, jazz, rock, light classics, and big band. This popular music is scored for unique instrumentation not typically found in symphony orchestras. Don't be surprised if you see flugelhorn, saxes, harmonicas, congas, lassos, theramins and other unexpected percussion instruments.
Playing popular music versus the "classical" repertoire is irresistible to the Pops performers. Today this volunteer group includes musicians from distinguished Conservatories including Oberlin, Julliard and the Eastman School of Music. Creative individuals from all sectors of society are attracted to the Pops. This diversity in background makes the Pops a delight to play with and a never-ending source of ideas, inspiration and humor.
